Ada Budrick Child Care Mission

The Ada Budrick Child Care and Learning Center provides a secure, stimulating and loving atmosphere for self-discovery at your child's own pace.  Each child is assured of an abundance of activities that reflect appropriate, active learning.  We stress cooperation and involvement through interactive play to develop feelings of self-worth and accomplishment.  We have many programs and sponsors which can assist your family financially for your child's enrollment.

About Ada Budrick Child Care

In 1968, Ada Budrick, a local welfare leader in the town of Boonton, saw the need for childcare for low-income working families.  She found space in the basement of the housing project where most of her clients lived.  Working with early childhood educators, the center opened with the ability to care for twenty preschool children while their parents found jobs and began their journeys to self-sufficiency.  The founding Board of Trustees named the facility "Ada Budrick Day Care Center" in honor of her vision and hard work.  Using subsidies from the State of New Jersey, the center was able to offer childcare to families while charging a small co-payment based on the income of each family.

The center continued to grow over the years.  Soon, the housing project allowed the center to use another room and enrollment grew to thirty.  The Board of Trustees began to look for a space that could handle growth and would be more suitable to its needs.  In 1988 the center moved into The Boonton United Methodist Church fellowship Hall.  It is still located in the Church facility, and is now known as Ada Budrick Child Care and Learning Center, Inc.  The enrollment has increased to over forty.

Since it's opening in 1968, hundreds of low-income and single parent families have been able to afford childcare and early education in our center.  We are still subsidized by the State of New Jersey, Department of Human Services, Division of Family Development.  We have twenty subsidized slots, in addition,, we accept children that have vouchers from the State of New Jersey and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families.  Some of our children receive scholarships from United Way of Morris County.  We also accept children whose families pay our affordable market rate.

Ada Budrick Child Care and Learning Center is committed to high early childhood standards.  We are accredited by The National Association for the education of young children.
